Now your glasses and contact lenses will cost you half
Sanitas knows how important it is to take care of the vision of our policyholders and that it sometimes involves a high economic cost. For this reason, we make the optics complement available to all of them, as an important help when it comes to meeting these expenses.
With this supplement, the insured will receive a refund of 50% of the amount of their bill for optical equipment, including prescription contact lenses and prescription glasses. The prescription of an ophthalmologist is necessary to benefit from it, as long as it belongs to the medical team of the contracted product and unless it includes the reimbursement method, in which case it would not be necessary for the ophthalmologist to belong to our medical team. A maximum reimbursement per year will be made, up to a limit of € 600 per insured / year.

What does it cover?
The coverage of this supplement includes the reimbursement of:
- Prescription contact lenses.
- Graduated crystals.
An ophthalmologist’s prescription is necessary to benefit from it. Depending on the type of policy, the ophthalmologist must be from the Sanitas medical team or could be an external ophthalmologist.
What is the amount of the refund?
Conditions for refund:
- 50% limit
(on the amount of the invoice). - Limit: 1 prescription per year.
- Up to a maximum of 600 euros per insured and year.
What are the hiring conditions?
- Grace Period: 3 Months
- Hiring: Individual or at the policy level with different premiums.
- Available at any time.
- Age of recruitment: 0-75 years of age. Children under 6 years old will not pay a premium but will have the right to coverage when it is contracted at the policy level.
- Preexistence: No.
- 50% limit (on the invoice amount). Up to 600 Euros / Insured / Year.
- Limit: 1 prescription per year.
- The documents to request reimbursement must always be original.

Optical Frequently Asked Questions
What optical material can be reimbursed?
It includes the reimbursement of prescription contact lenses and prescription glasses, as long as they are prescribed by an ophthalmologist. Frames and any other accessories that appear on the invoice are excluded.
In the family policy there are two adults and several children, can we decide which insured has the optical option?
You have the choice to add it individually or all together. There is a discount for the number of people.
When can the optician reimbursement be contracted?
This complement can be contracted at any time.
Must the ophthalmologist's prescription be in the name of each insured?
Yes, you must request that the name of the insured be indicated in each prescription.
Do any of Sanitas health insurance plans include the Optical option for free?
No.
Can you request reimbursement for multiple invoices at the same time?
No, the reimbursement has a maximum of one invoice per year and insured.
How do I request reimbursement for my purchases?
It can be requested by any of these means: online application or postal delivery.
Online Application: Login to your misanitas online account, fill in your details and upload the receipt and prescription. you will be able to monitor the status of your claim.
Postal Delivery: The insured must submit the following documentation within a maximum period of 90 days. You have to send: Reimbursement request form, Original invoices or pharmacy ticket, Medical prescription in the name of the insured. Important: the documents must always be original. Once all the required documentation has been received and the appropriate checks have been made, within 10 working days, the corresponding amount will be reimbursed.
Can I unsubscribe from the optical material reimbursement add-on?
The insured can request cancellation at the time of renewal of his policy.
