What does it cover?

The coverage of this supplement provides the insured with medical assistance in the event of a traffic accident, occupational accident or occupational disease, coverage that is often excluded from medical insurance.

 

This service provides the insured with the qualified assistance he/she may need in the event of an unforeseen situation resulting from a traffic or occupational accident or occupational disease:

  1. Being hospitalized for more than 48 hours.
  2.  Staying at home for more than 5 days due to convalescence.
  3.  Death.

In this case, the insured may benefit from the following guarantees:

  • Support in basic household chores: home helper to perform the usual household chores.
  • Care of dependent elderly people:
    • Sending an assistant to your home to take care of you.
    • Transfer of a family member to their home (plane, train or cab).
    • Transferring them to a relative’s home (plane, train or cab).
  • Care of children under 16 years of age or disabled:
    • Sending an assistant to your home to care for them.
    • Transferring them to a relative’s home (plane, train or cab).
  • Personal assistance: dispatch of a personal assistance assistant to care for the insured, apart from household chores (support in hygiene, personal grooming, shower and/or bath, clothing, footwear and food; transfers, transfers and mobilization within the home; help with food intake and taking prescribed medication; basic care for incontinent persons…).
  • Psychological care: psychological guidance and advice in situations of emotional stress, discomfort, doubts or worries caused by a loss covered by the policy.

NOTE: Health care required for the treatment of illnesses, injuries, malformations or defects resulting from sports competitions shall be excluded.

How is the service provided?

In the event of needing medical assistance, the insured will simply have to go with his or her Sanitas insurance card to the medical professionals and centers arranged by the insurer.

 

The home assistance guarantees will be provided through IMA Ibérica, an insurance group with extensive experience in home assistance throughout Europe.

 

Sanitas has joined forces with IMA to offer a comprehensive assistance service for people who have to be hospitalized or resting at home.

 

It will be the insured who will have to contact through the telephone number 902 747 767, available 24h 365 days a year. It will be necessary to identify yourself as a Sanitas client and provide your ID card number.

What are the hiring conditions?

  • Grace Period: No
  • Hiring: At the policy level, mandatory for all policy members

1 Home help for basic housework. Sending an assistant to the insured person’s home to help with basic household chores (cleaning, washing and ironing, meal preparation, etc.). Up to a maximum of 90h, at a rate of at least 2h/day from the 1st day of the event. Within the maximum period of 3 months.
2 Home help for the care of children under 16 years of age or disabled. Dispatch of a home help assistant for the care and attention of children under 16 years old or disabled Up to a maximum of 90h, at a rate of at least 2h/day from the 1st day of the event. Within the maximum period of 3 months. Excluded with guarantee 3.
3 Transfer of children under 16 years of age or disabled. Cost of transport (airline (economy class), train (1st class) or taxi) to the home of the family member designated by the insured person for children under 16 years of age or disabled. Only in Spain. Excluded with guarantee 2.
4 Home help for the care of first-degree relatives in the ascending line. Dispatch of a home help assistant to care for first-degree ascendants who live in the same home as the Insured and are in a situation of dependency. Up to a maximum of 90h, at a rate of at least 2h/day from the 1st day of the event. Within the maximum period of 3 months. Excluded with guarantee 5 and 6.
5 Relocation of a family member to care for relatives in the ascending line. Transfer to the insured person’s home by regular airline (tourist class), train (1st class) or taxi of the relative designated by the insured person for the care of ascendants in the 1st degree who live in the same home and are in a situation of dependency. Only in Spain. Excluded with guarantee 4 and 6.
6 Transfer of ascendants. Return ticket to the home of the family member designated by the insured person for ascendants in the 1st degree who live in the same home and are in a situation of dependency. Only in Spain. Excluded with guarantee 7 and 8.
7 Personal assistance. Sending a personal assistance assistant to attend to the insured person, apart from domestic tasks, when he/she needs personal care (help with hygiene, personal grooming, showering and/or bathing; personal help with clothing, footwear and food; transfers, transfers and mobilization within the home; help with eating; help with taking medication prescribed by the health center; basic care for incontinent people; promotion of hygiene and tidiness). Up to a maximum of 90h, at a rate of at least 2h/day from the 1st day of the event. Within the maximum period of 3 months. Complementary to guarantee 1, the hours of both are not cumulative.
8 Psychological care. Psychological guidance and counselling in situations of emotional stress, discomfort, doubts or worries caused by a claim covered by the policy. Maximum of 3 telephone sessions and 3 face-to-face sessions, lasting 1 hour.

Accidents Frequently Asked Questions

Because if the insured does not take it out, coverage in the event of an accident will be excluded from his or her policy.

For the duration of the illness or injury suffered as a result of the accident, provided that the supplement continues to be contracted.

Both Sanitas Professional plans include the Work / traffic accident option for free.

All insured persons, individuals and groups, who have contracted the complement with product code 668, before being replaced by the new one (product code: 1202) will maintain the coverage they had contracted.

The following coverages are included in Family Assistance and not in the new Traffic Accidents and Workplace Accidents supplement: care of pets, dispatch of medicines, and accompanying minors to school. In addition, the hours designated in covers 1, 2, 4 and 7 of this supplement are 90h in Traffic and Workplace Accidents and 30h in Family Assistance.

The provider is IMA Ibérica, an insurance group with extensive experience in home care throughout Europe.

Any assistance of a medical nature is excluded from the home cover of this supplement.

The insured person will be able to benefit from these guarantees as many times as necessary, always complying with the limits established in each one of the guarantees.

They are not cumulative. The service is provided in the family home and given that all the members insured in a policy must reside in the same home, the needs would be covered, whether one or more of the insured persons are in a situation of need.

At the time of requesting the service, the insured person must answer a brief questionnaire referring to the incident that has occurred. Based on these answers, a medical team will carry out an assessment taking into account, among others, the degree of autonomy of the insured person, the characteristics of the home or the number of members of the family unit, factors that will determine both the type of service required and the number of hours of the same.

No, this guarantee only covers transfers to and from destinations within Spanish territory.

The intervention time in cities with a population of more than 50,000 inhabitants is 24/48 hours after the claim has been processed. In cities with a smaller population, the intervention time is 48/72 hours. IMA will carry out a personalised assessment of each case adapted to the service and the specific needs of the insured.
