Waitings periods

The waiting periods are the time that must pass from the time you take out the insurance until you make use of certain services. For medical visits and simple diagnostic tests, such as blood and urine tests, cytology, X-rays, etc., there are no waiting periods and you can use them from day one. Only the following diagnostic tests or complex treatments have these waiting periods:

FAQ

Do I have coverage abroad and what should I do in case of need?

Yes. Travel assistance or worldwide reimbursement module.

  • Sanitas BluaU includes coverage in case of an EMERGENCY due to illness or accident abroad, up to a limit of 12,000€ for medical expenses, per person and year, in case of illness or accident in any country in the world.
  • You can choose the specialist of your choice, even if he/she is not on our medical list. You will be reimbursed 80% of the medical expenses, up to a total of 150,000 € per person per year.
I am pregnant or want to be. Does Sanitas cover it?

Yes. The Sanitas BluaU will cover your antenatal consultations, diagnostic tests. Childbirth is covered as long as you fall pregnant after becoming a member. Check the waiting periods.

What documents do you need from me?

Nothing for now, however, we will need you to complete the application form.

Does it include dental coverage?

The Sanitas BLUA plan include Dental 21 addon.

Can the customer take the analysis wherever he/she wants?

Yes, as long as the same conditions of safety, hygiene, privacy and accessibility that can be offered by an extraction in a private home are met. The laboratory will assess the suitability of the infrastructure proposed by the client.

Can I perform any type of analysis with this service?

Yes, as long as they are routine laboratory tests (hematology, biochemistry, serology, etc.) and as long as they do not require prior authorization or assessment by the company (e.g. genetic studies). Nor will the service be provided for those tests that require the subsequent presence of health personnel once the basal extraction has been performed (e.g. any provocation/stimulation test such as glucose curves, breath test, etc., or those that require materials different from those normally used for an extraction).

Does the client choose the time he/she wants to perform the analysis?

The client indicates his preference, and the schedule will be agreed between client and laboratory, and it will be the laboratory that confirms date and time according to its availability. With few exceptions, the analysis will always be done in the morning from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Will the insured be able to request this service from any laboratory?

Yes, in the app and on the web we provide a list of laboratories that Sanitas has contracted in each province. However, if you decide for proximity or convenience to choose a non-contracted laboratory, you can do so as long as the laboratory provides this service at home and is legally authorized to perform the analysis. Subsequently, you may request reimbursement of expenses according to the limits of this service.

How many services are included in the home analysis?

Each insured will have 2 home analysis services per year.

Does the medication have to be delivered to the policy address?

No, the delivery of the medication may be made at the address of the insured party’s choice, which may be another address different from the one stated in the policy or even at the address of the insured party’s place of work.

How many times will you be able to request the drug delivery service?

This service may be requested up to a maximum of 6 times per insured and per year, regardless of the number of insureds included in the policy.

How long does it take to receive the medication at home?

Once the service has been requested and within 3 hours for the entire national territory, a courier service will be sent to the insured’s address within the Spanish territory. This service will always be offered under a doctor’s pharmacological prescription.

Will you have to apply for reimbursement whenever a home delivery drug is ordered?

No, they are independent services, you may request home delivery and not use the reimbursement, and you may choose on which drugs you do or do not request reimbursement.

How does the customer pay for the medication?

The customer must pay (cash or credit card) for the drug at the time of delivery.

Can the customer claim reimbursement for the cost of these drugs?

Yes, both Blua and the digital supplement are 50% reimbursed for pharmacy expenses, up to a limit of €200 per insured person per year. Medical prescription of the medication is required.

 

What happens if the customer already has a reimbursement supplement contracted?

In this case, the two pharmacy reimbursement limits will be added together and a higher reimbursement will be available.

What medications are eligible for reimbursement of blua pharmacy expenses?

All medications that meet the following requirements will be covered:

  • That they are covered by the policy.
  • That they appear as authorized and marketed in Spain on the website of the Spanish Drug Agency.

What are pre-existing conditions and how do they apply?

Pre-existing illnesses refer to pathologies prior to the date of contracting the Sanitas health insurance. Before taking out the plan, you must fill in a form, declaring these pathologies. You should then speak to one of our doctors to check the status of this pathology and carry out a complete assessment which will be included in your file.

Are there any restrictions on coverage?
  • Reimbursement: 80% up to 150,000 €/year/insured, in Spain and abroad; with sublimits indicated in the policy.
  • Home Analysis Reimbursement: 100% up to 60 €/year/insured, in Spain; with sublimits indicated in the policy.
  • Reimbursement Coverage USA: up to €30,000/year/Insured, in the USA; with sublimits indicated in the policy.
  • Pharmacy reimbursement: 50% up to 200 €/year/Insured, in Spain and abroad; with sublimits indicated in the policy.
  • Emergency assistance abroad: 12,000 €/ Insured/year, max. 90 consecutive days of travel.
  • Psychology: max. 4 consultations/month and limit of 15 sessions/Insured/year.
  • Podiatry: max. 12 sessions/Insured/year.
  • Psychiatry: max. 50 days/insured/year. Podiatry: max. 12 sessions/Insured/year.
  • Ambulance: does not include transfers for physiotherapy treatments, diagnostic tests or consultation assistance.
  • Health care will only be covered for newborns as long as they are registered as a Sanitas Insured.
Where am I covered?
  • Services are provided throughout Spain.
  • For emergency assistance abroad, services are provided all over the world.
  • Anywhere in the world: Medical reimbursement of expenses.
What are my obligations?
  • The Policyholder is obliged to answer the health questionnaire truthfully so that SANITAS can make a correct assessment of the risk. In the event of falsehood or omission in this declaration, SANITAS may terminate the insurance contract.
  • The Policyholder is obliged to pay the price in the manner and within the terms agreed with SANITAS.
  • The Insured must present their SANITAS card, as well as their identity document if required when receiving the services.
When and how do I have to make payments?

The price of the insurance is annual and can be divided as agreed.
This product has co-payments.
Payment will be made by direct debit on the contracting party’s bank account or other forms of payment provided that they are expressly agreed in the insurance application.

When does coverage begin and end?

The insurance contract is annual and comes into effect at 00:00 on the contracted start date. It will be automatically renewed annually, unless the policyholder or SANITAS indicates otherwise.

How can I terminate the contract?

On the date of termination of the insurance contract, it shall be tacitly extended for successive periods of one year unless one of the parties (Sanitas or the contracting party) opposes one of these extensions by giving two months’ notice to the other party if it is Sanitas who gives the notice and one month if it is the contracting party.
